Council's Job Box service celebrates National Careers Week 2023
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Job Box service is backing National Careers Week 2023 - a national celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK.
National Careers Week, which runs from March 6-11,encourages people of all ages to explore different career pathways that match their interests.
Telford Job Box can help people of all ages with their career planning and support them with CV writing, job applications and communication skills.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s FutureFocus service also provides free careers guidance and specialist help to young people with their career planning.
During National Careers Week, people of all ages can drop in to Job Box at Southwater One, Telford between 10am and 5pm every day for support and to access resources which can help them with their career journey.
Job Box also has a dedicated webpage for National Careers Week where people can benefit from local and national resources and sign up for the NCW Virtual Careers Fair.
During National, Job Box will also signpost people towards the Apprenticeship, Employment and Skills Show 2023 which is back at the International Centre,Telford on Thursday 16 March (12 noon-7.30pm).
Telford & Wrekin Council is sponsoring the event along with The Careers & Enterprise Company, Integrated Care System (NHS Shropshire Telford and Wrekin), Telford College and Harper Adams University.
It’s the largest event of its kind this side of the NEC in Birmingham and gives people of all ages the opportunity to find out more about local apprenticeship, employment and training opportunities.
Visitors can take part in hands-on activities delivered by employers and training providers to gain a better understanding of apprenticeships and roles available and speak to employers that may be in a business sector they are interested in.
Employers will be able to offer support and advice and help people make that all important decision about their first career move or even a change of career path.

Councillor Eileen Callear (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for visitor economy, employment and skills said: “National Careers Week is a celebration of careers guidance which is widely recognised across the UK.
“Not only does the week focus on the careers support which is available for young people as they leave education, it’s also a platform to promote help and guidance for people of all ages who are facing career challenges or are looking for a change of direction.
“We are proud to offer this support and help people across Telford and Wrekin with their career journey, whatever stage it’s at.”
