Explore employment opportunities at Telford & Wrekin Council jobs fair
Award-winning Telford & Wrekin Council is hosting a jobs fair later this month to promote exciting vacancies across its range of services.
The event takes place at Southwater One (second floor), Telford on Wednesday 30 November (10.30am-12.30pm) and is open to jobseekers or anyone looking for a change of direction.
In particular the event will focus on cleaning, catering and caretaking roles across the borough and staff from these teams will be interviewing for roles on the day.
The event will also highlight the council as a great place to work and inform people about the many benefits that working for the local authority brings.
Telford & Wrekin Council was recognised as Local Authority of the Year this year in the MJ Achievement Awards – the Oscars of Local Government
Council employees can benefit from a fantastic pension scheme, paid annual leave, flexible working to fit in with family commitments, sick pay (based on length of service) and an employee discount scheme which offers a series of cost savings during these challenging times.
As well as a variety of full-time and part-time roles, the council also employs apprentices across its services.
Apprenticeships offer young people a positive step on the career ladder and the chance to do a job while gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
Telford & Wrekin Council serves a population of 170,000 people and continues to invest in growth and attract new businesses to the borough.
The council is constantly looking to improve and develop its services and wants to recruit enthusiastic individuals who are determined to succeed and want to help the council maintain its high standards.
Some of the current council catering vacancies include catering supervisor and catering assistant posts in the school meals team at primary schools across the borough.
Lorna Hicks, Group Catering Manager for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: “Working within the school meals team is not only rewarding by serving nutritious and healthy meals to our future generations but also supports the education of healthy eating within schools.
“For the right person there is an opportunity to grow within the team and further their career.”
Councillor Eileen Callear (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy, Employment and Skills said: “Telford & Wrekin Council is a great place to work.
“We offer a diverse range of employment opportunities and our teams are proud to deliver a range of services for residents across the borough.
“Our Jobs Fair on Wednesday 30 November gives people the perfect opportunity to find out more about current vacancies in our cleaning, catering and caretaking teams.
“If you’re looking for new employment or want to change direction this could be the perfect opportunity for you to find out more about what’s on offer and discover the many benefits of working for us.”
The council’s Job Box team will also be on hand to match people’s skills with suitable roles and support them through the job application process.
Job Box is a one stop shop for information and support with job vacancies, training and employment in the Telford and Wrekin area.
Eileen added: “If people are apprehensive about applying for a new role our Job Box team can support them to give them the confidence and support with their application.
“We are committed to helping people across the borough to develop their skills and secure new employment opportunities.”
