Jobseekers can check out employment vacancies at latest 'Work Local event

Residents in Hadley, Donnington, Trench and Oakengates can find out more about job vacancies across a range of sectors at The Wakes, Oakengates on Thursday 22 September (9am-12pm).

The session is being supported by local employers and Work Local is a Telford & Wrekin Council initiative which aims to get people across the borough thinking about working closer to where they live.

It also supports businesses to fill vacancies and recruit new staff from the pool of talent which exists nearby.

People who are currently unemployed, are looking for new roles or want to change career pathways can all benefit from the event which is also open to people from across the borough.

Telford & Wrekin Council’s business support team and community learning teams have organised the event and will provide support on the day.

The council’s Job Box team will also be on hand to offer advice and guidance about job vacancies and applying for roles at the session.

Councillor Eileen Callear (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy, Employment and Skills said: “Work Local is an initiative to try and match local people with local job vacancies and supports employers in different areas of our borough.

“This latest event targets people from certain areas of the borough who may not be aware what job opportunities there are nearby and with the cost of living increasing, securing a job on the doorstep can also help to save fuel costs or even eliminate the need to have a car altogether.

“We are committed to supporting people who are unemployed or looking for an alternative job closer to home from across the borough, matching them with the latest employment opportunities, and also supporting local businesses who need to recruit new staff.”

Employers who are interested in supporting the event and having a presence on the day should email Telford & Wrekin Council Business Advisor Louise Harding – louise.harding@telford.gov.uk

The address for the event is The Wakes, Oakengates, Telford, TF2 6EP.
