Telford & Wrekin Homes launch first properties

The council’s new housing initiative, Telford & Wrekin Homes, has released details of its first four properties following an extensive renovation programme.

Telford & Wrekin Homes launch first properties

Telford & Wrekin Council has committed to investing £19.7m into the acquisition and refurbishment of around 134 homes for a mixture of private and affordable rent, to provide high quality homes for rent in our communities.

Like Nuplace - the council’s wholly owned housing company - Telford & Wrekin Homes will offer quality properties for tenants to rent. Whereas Nuplace delivers homes on a build to rent basis, Telford & Wrekin Homes secures the renovation of existing properties which may otherwise blight our communities.

The first properties which are located in Donnington, Coalbrookdale and Wrockwardine Wood are now available for residents to rent.

Offering a “home for life” the focus of the programme is to breathe new life into Telford’s existing housing stock.

Councillor Richard Overton (Lab) Cabinet Member for Housing, Enforcement & Transport said:

“As a council which is on your side, we are listening to residents who tell us that they want to rent a high quality home from a landlord they can trust. This is why we are investing in Telford & Wrekin Homes as we aim to raise the standards in the private rented sector across our borough.

“These are our first 4 homes, with an aim to dramatically increase our numbers to 134 over time – we are acquiring homes, transforming them and renting them to our local residents.

“These properties have received a huge amount of internal and external works including bathroom and kitchen refurbishments, carpentry, plastering, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. We know that they will make fantastic homes for our residents to enjoy and make their own.”

Details of the first properties including floor plans, rent prices and how to apply are available online
