Businesses invited to support 'Work Local' drop in recruitment event
Employers are being invited to support a drop-in community recruitment event next month which encourages local people to ‘work local.’
Telford businesses will be able to highlight latest vacancies and employment opportunities at Hollinswood Community Centre, Hollinswood on Thursday 19 May (9am-2.30pm).
Work Local is a Telford & Wrekin Council initiative which aims to get people across the borough thinking about working closer to where they live.
It also aims to help businesses to fill vacancies and recruit new staff from a pool of talent on their doorstep.
Business representatives from a wide range of sectors can be part of the event which aims to support their recruitment needs.
People who are currently unemployed, are looking for new roles or want to change career pathways can benefit from the event.
Members of Telford & Wrekin Council’s business support team and community learning teams have organised the event and will provide support on the day.
The council’s Job Box team will also be on hand to offer support with job vacancies and applying for roles at the session.
The event targets residents from areas in close proximity to Hollinswood including Stafford Park, Central Park, Telford Central, Hollinswood and Dawley, but anyone is welcome to attend and find out more.
Councillor Eileen Callear (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy, Employment and Skills said: “Work Local is an initiative to try and match local people with local job vacancies and supports employers in different areas of our borough.
“The Hollinswood event is an opportunity for employers to highlight their business and speak to prospective candidates and potential future employees who attend the event.
“We are committed to supporting people who are unemployed across the borough, matching them with the latest employment opportunities, and also supporting local businesses who need to recruit new staff.”
Employers who are interested in supporting the event and having a presence on the day should email Telford & Wrekin Council Business Advisor Louise Harding – louise.harding@telford.gov.uk
Eileen added: “Many people may not be aware of some of the job vacancies that exist in their community so the Hollinswood event is an excellent opportunity for them to find out more and who knows where it might lead.”
The address for the event is Hollinswood Community Centre, Downemead, Telford, TF3 2EW.
