Spring Into St. George’s

A fabulous day of entertainment for the whole family awaits at Telford & Wrekin Council’s Spring Into St. George’s event! This family-fun, action-packed day takes place at Telford Town Park on 23 April 11am – 5pm.

Spring Into St. George’s

A great day of entertainment is planned to celebrate and mark St George’s Day where you can step back in time to an age of falconry, jousting, sword fighting, axe throwing, minstrels, warrior training, archery, food and drink and crafts. And don’t forget to look out for St. George and his dragon.  Les Miles Des Marches in full knight regalia will provide an insight into the past. Come down and watch them bring history to life!

Youngsters can be right in the heart of the action like never before! The battle where St. George was made Patron saint of England will be recreated and little warriors are needed to help defeat the enemy! This fantastic activity for children aged 7+  is full of fun, energy and learning from the key elements of the battle, manoeuvres and tactics. History will be brought to life! Warriors will be kitted out to take part.  Why not watch the battle demo in the morning at 11am and then take part in one of the two further battles later in the day.

Sessions are £5 and you can book a slot by visiting @TelfordCultureEvents on Facebook.  In addition there will be free warrior training also available on the day.

Entertainment also includes The Sheep Show, back on the road for 2022, this unique show is “Edutainment” at its best, where visitors can meet nine different breeds of sheep, each with a story to tell and their own theme tune!

As part of this event Wellington Walkers are Welcome will be hosting a choice of four walks;

10.00am Ketley, meet just inside the gate to Paddock Mound, by the decorated bus stop. TF1 5AN

10.00 am St Georges, meet in the car park behind the cricket club, TF2 9LU

10:30 am Stirchley, meet in the car park at the recreation centre, TF3 1ET

10:30 am Dawley, meet in the centre outside the Co-op. TF4 2EX

Reducing the use of single-use plastic is a great step in making the Telford & Wrekin Council events more sustainable and fighting against climate change. Event Cup Solutions will be operating the ONE Planet ONE Chance Reusable Cup System at the event where you can pay a £1 deposit for a reusable cup for the day.

Why not travel to the event on your bike? There will be a 300 bike park on site – cyclists are advised to bring their own lock to secure bikes.
