Free multi-sport sessions for young people aged 10-16 during Easter

Young people aged 10-16 can attend multi-sports sessions being held across Telford and Wrekin throughout the Easter holidays, thanks to Telford & Wrekin Council and AFC Telford United Football club – all for free.

Free multi-sport sessions for young people aged 10-16 during Easter

The sessions have been organised as part of the council’s Safer & Stronger Communities project which has funded coaches to ensure a range of free, healthy activities for young people and which are run by professional coaches.

There are 30 places at each session this month (April) which start between 1-3pm and 3-5pm and being held at multi-use games areas – or MUGAs – across the borough in Wellington, Sutton Hill, Donnington. Malinslee, Arelston, Woodside, Stirchley and Dawley.

Cabinet Member for Safer & Stronger Communities Paul Watling (Lab) said: “We are very aware about how the costs of living are impacting on people and the added pressures school holidays have on parents in particular.

“These sessions might help relieve some of that pressure, with youngsters having somewhere to hang out, do something active and of course free of charge and we’re hoping to do the same for the summer holidays.

“Part of our safer and stronger communities project is about investing in activities and support groups for all sorts of people, helping them feel like they are part of something and connected to others, helping to bring about a sense of belonging and we’re working in areas across the borough.
