We’ve been shortlisted at the Keep Britain Tidy Network Awards 2022!
Telford & Wrekin Council has been shortlisted for Keep Britain Tidy’s annual awards.
The council’s entry for the Great British Spring Clean has led to Telford & Wrekin being shortlisted as finalists for the Keep Britain Tidy Network Awards 2022.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 10 February at Birmingham’s prestigious Hilton Metropole where the winners will be announced.
Beating stiff competition from across the country, the council, working in partnership with local organisations, community groups and volunteer Street Champions, have been recognised as finalists in the Great British Spring Clean category as a result of their efforts in making environmental improvements for residents across the borough.
The Keep Britain Tidy awards recognise and celebrate local authorities that are committed to making significant improvements to the environment on people’s doorsteps, from community engagement to waste enforcement work.
Throughout the period of the Great British Spring Clean campaign a total of more than 350 bags of litter and recyclables was collected overall. This was a combined effort from a number of events including a two day borough wide litter picking activity that was supported by Telford & Wrekin’s Plastic Free Taskforce, taking place on 11th and 12th June 2021.
Councillor Lee Carter (Labour), cabinet member for neighbourhood services, regeneration and the High Street, said: “I’m pleased and proud that we’ve been shortlisted for the Keep Britain Tidy Network Awards 2022.
“Our teams have done a fantastic job in educating and supporting local groups and residents to keep our open spaces clean, green and safe and their efforts have been truly recognised. We know that people want to live in areas where parks and open spaces are looked after. It’s a dual effort between local authorities and residents, and we will continue the great work with absolute gusto.”
