Learn Telford groups bring festive cheer with Christmas wreath masterpieces
Adult learners have been putting their new skills into practice by creating spectacular Christmas wreaths in the run-up to the festive period.
The enterprising groups produced handmade woodland themed masterpieces as part of their Learn Telford Everlasting Christmas Wreaths courses.
Learn Telford tutor Jane Cowan delivered the sessions at Belmont Community Hall, Wellington and Dawley Social Club, Dawley as part of the Learn Telford Adult and Community Learning offer.
The learners enjoyed the opportunity to develop new skills in friendly and supportive environments.
Learn Telford is part of Telford & Wrekin Council and aims to provide high quality learning opportunities for people living in the borough.
It aims to widen participation in learning throughout local communities and improve the skills and employment levels across the borough by supporting adults who are low skilled, unemployed or distant from learning.
Jane Cowan said: “All the learners on the programmes have been a real credit, using the craft skills that they have learnt to create some wonderful wreaths.
“They really got stuck into the task and have produced some fantastic results which will hopefully take pride of place in their homes this Christmas.”
After the Christmas break, Learn Telford will launch further courses in crafts, cooking, child development, mentoring, adult care, English and Maths in the new year.
Learn Telford is also part of a much wider range of services that make up Telford Job Box.
Jane added: “Sessions like these aim to engage adults and encourage them back into the learning environment and it was great to see all the learners so engaged in the activities.”
