Telford & Wrekin Council - Supporting the Home Office in Afghan Crisis
Telford & Wrekin Council responded back in June to requests for support from the Home Office as part of the planned evacuation of Afghan interpreters and those who supported our UK forces.
Telford & Wrekin Council agreed to a Home Officerequest to provide permanent accommodation for a total of 25 Afghan interpreters or thosewho have supported UK troops. To date we have resettled a total of eight of the25 people. All of the costs are covered by the Home Office.
Councils right across the country have also pledged their support to welcome refugees following the government’s confirmation that they will provide funding for local authorities for the costs of accommodating refugees, including education and health funding.
