Armed Forces Family Fun Event
Telford will be celebrating the work of its Armed Forces community on Sunday 27th June with a FREE family fun day at Broadoaks Playing Fields, Donnington from 11am until 4pm.
The event is being organised to mark Armed Forces Day 2021 which is the annual national campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for past and present military personnel including currently serving troops and their families, reservists, veterans and cadets.
The line-up includes military vehicle displays, family entertainment, funfair, BMX stunt display team, cadets and regular forces, displays, hot air balloon display, food and drink and military charity stalls.
Councillor Paul Watling, Cabinet Member for Co-Operative Communities, Engagement and Partnerships said: “This is another opportunity for us to pay tribute to those who serve and have served our country from all cultures and backgrounds. Visitors to the event will see some changes in terms of covid restrictions. The event will be on smaller scale than previous ones and takes place in a large open field where we are confident social distancing can take place. We will also ensure other precautions are in place such as hand sanitising stations where needed.”
Councillor Chris Turley, lead on the Armed Forces Covenant for the borough, commented: “We are delighted to have the Armed Forces Family Day back as an actual event this year. It’s an opportunity to show our appreciation of all the service men and women who are committed to protecting our country, and also to their families who support them throughout their service.”
