ALDI Newport is the latest business to add its name to one of Telford & Wrekin’s roundabouts as part of the council’s sponsorship scheme.
The signs have been placed on the Red House, Lilleshall, Church Aston and Forton Road roundabouts for a minimum of two years.
Jon Wilson, Managing Director for ALDI, Neston region, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council, by displaying our signs and advertising around the Newport area.
“This was an ideal opportunity for us to place these signs on high traffic volume roundabouts and we are very pleased with the look.”
ALDI Newport, which opened its doors to shoppers last summer, will close for refurbishments from 10pm on Saturday (21 May) and will reopen at 8am on Thursday 26 May, allowing for a store upgrade. It will be the first ALDI store in the UK to undergo this state of the art refurbishment.
Councillor Lee Carter, cabinet member for Council Finance and Service Delivery, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome ALDI Newport to our roundabout sponsorship scheme.
“The roundabout sponsorship scheme offers great exposure for local businesses in the borough and I’d encourage any that are interested, to get in touch and find out more.”
Telford & Wrekin Council offer local businesses the chance to sponsor one, or more, of the roundabouts in the borough by from having their name, logo and a brief message put on to signs that are then erected on to their chosen roundabout.
Thousands of people travel on the roads in Telford and Wrekin every day, from the 165,000 local residents to the 3.5 million tourists visiting the town's attractions and attending exhibitions and conferences every year.
The roundabout may be close to the business’ premises or on a roundabout that has a large traffic volume circulating around it for maximum brand exposure. The money generated from the sponsorship scheme helps to fund vital front line Council services.
In a survey of 1,000 local residents, 84 per cent of people recalled seeing a sponsorship sign on our roundabouts, and market research shows that 85 per cent of existing sponsors would recommend the opportunity to a colleague or business associate.
