Global Entrepreneurship Week to launch Young Telford
Telford & Wrekin Council will be hosting Enterprise Telford to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Enterprise Telford kicks off on Monday (17 NOV), with five days of events and workshops at Southwater One in Telford town centre.
The event is aimed at people who want to be their own boss and run their own business with help and advice available.
Councillor Bill McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Finance and Enterprise, will open Enterprise Telford which will begin with the launch of Young Telford on Monday at 10am.
Young Telford is the latest programme to be launched by the Job Box, the one-stop employment services offered by the Council.
Young Telford will help young people, aged 18-24 years old, in the borough to start their own business and get them on their way to being self-employed.
Young Telford is based at the Start Up Hub in Hadley Park and will help young people to start a business and provide everything needed to start and grow a self employed career.
The programme of events is designed to inspire and inform, putting people in touch with the support they need. All of the events are free.
Monday: Launch of Young Telford, promoting self employment as a viable employment option for young people.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Two day Business Start Up workshop
Thursday: Young Telford Accelerator, connecting young people with business mentors. Plus The Federation of Small Businesses is holding an exhibition of 50 plus businesses followed by a Networking event in the evening.

Councillor Bill McClements said: “Global Entrepreneurship Week is about encouraging people who might be thinking about starting their own business to find out how to do this and what they need to do.
“We are putting on a whole programme of events to offer help and support to local entrepreneurs.
“Young Telford is about making sure that our young people have the right tools to start their own business too.
“All of the events next week are free and under one roof, at Southwater One.”
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for employment and skills, said: “The new Young Telford service to be offered as a part of the Job Box means that young people in the borough who want to start their own business will be given the support they need to do this.
“We are working hard in Telford and Wrekin to ensure that our young people have as many options as possible for finding work and self-employment is one of these.”
