Council celebrates Co-operative Fortnight

Telford & Wrekin Council is celebrating Co-operatives Fortnight for the next two weeks.

Telford & Wrekin is a proud co-operative council and we know the value of partnership working. There has never been a greater need for co-operative and partnership working than during the coronavirus pandemic.

Co-operatives UK want to harness this positive behaviour to change society for the better as we rebuild, that’s why they’re encouraging everyone to #KeepCooperating.

Throughout Co-operative Fortnight we will be sharing the ways that we have worked co-operatively over the past few months to support our local community during these uncertain times. From helping to find beds for those homeless in the borough to creating an army of volunteers, we have found new ways to work.

Council leader, Councillor Shaun Davies, said:

“As a co-operative council we believe that co-operation and partnership is the right way to do business. It’s in our DNA.

“We were one of the earliest adopters of the Co-operative Council model and we have continued to ensure we work closely with partners to ensure the best services for our residents.

“The coronavirus outbreak has shown what can happen when we all co-operate and I hope we can build on this to create something better together.”
