Almost two weeks left to take Council tax holiday

Around 9,500 households have already taken up the Council’s offer for a two month council tax “holiday” since this opened last month.

Almost two weeks left to take Council tax holiday

The Council is urging anyone who hasn't yet applied for this to do so by 20 April and, if they want to, take a holiday from payments in May and June.

The two month holiday offer is to help ease the financial burden caused by the coronavirus pandemic by reducing costs for the next two months with the bill’s balance paid over the remaining months of the financial year.

There is no need to cancel your Direct Debit.

Many residents have had the holiday already applied to their council tax bills from April

Any Telford and Wrekin resident can apply for this online 24/7. If you aren’t online, you can call 01952 383838 (open weekdays 9am - 5pm, excluding Bank Holidays).

If your financial circumstances have changed and you’re struggling to now pay your council tax bill, you can apply for help through our council tax reduction scheme www.telford.gov.uk/benefits or by calling 01952 383838 (9am -5pm weekdays).

Cllr Rae Evans, cabinet lead for finance said: “This is just one simple way we can offer help to residents who seen their income reduce because of the pandemic.

“If for any reason anyone is unable to submit their application by this deadline they should talk to the Council on the number above and we'll try to help however we can."
