Coronavirus update, 24 March 2020: Further changes to some of our services
Following the Government announcement last night we are making some further changes to some of our services: Household Recycling Centres, bulky item collections, fishing pools and council buildings.
Household Recycling Centres
To help our teams focus on maintaining kerbside collections both of our Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) are now closed with immediate effect. We will review this in line with government advice.
This will also help encourage people to STAY AT HOME. We will keep you updated on any further changes to any of our rubbish and recycling services.
Bulk Collections
Household waste collection is now our priority so we are re-directing the Veolia employees to this as we can. This means we will no longer offer bulk collections for large household items.
Residents with existing bulk collections booked will be contacted directly and refunds will be issued where applicable.
Fishing Pools
As highlighted last night, the UK Government has issued clear instruction for us all to stay in our homes and play our part in reducing the spread of coronavirus.
All fishing pools are now closed for angling until further notice and should not be used. Please stay in your homes as much as you can and avoid social contact wherever possible.
Council Buildings
All council buildings are now closed to the public.Darby House and the Register office in Wellington will be accessible for pre-arranged appointments only.
