Coronavirus – protect yourself and others

The most common symptoms of coronavirus are:
• A new continuous cough
• High temperature (37.8 degrees or higher)
If you have either of these, you need to:
• Stay at home
• Do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home. More details about this

The Council has published a range of materials to help support the community, schools and businesses so that they have the latest details to ensure everyone is doing all they can to protect themselves and others.

The Council’s Director of Public Health Liz Noakes, said: “We must all now play our part to delay the spread of coronavirus. We need to focus on looking after each other and protect our older and vulnerable family, friends and communities.

“For most people, coronavirus will be a mild illness and will not have serious symptoms.

“But older people and people with other health conditions are vulnerable. If they do catch it, they are more likely to need hospital treatment.

“The key thing to help prevent you and those around you catching coronavirus virus is to practice good hygiene.Wash your hands thoroughly with soap for 20 seconds regularly during the day. Do this when you:
• Get home or into work
• Blow your nose, sneeze or cough
• Eat or handle food

“We will publish regular updates on our website and social media to help keep the borough updated.”
