Telford Town Park wins regional title for Best Park in the West Midlands

Fields in Trust received an all-time high record number of nominations this year for the UK’s Best Park 2019, with Telford Town Park placed in the top 20% of all nominations.

What’s not to love? Telford Town Park has been voted the best park in the Midlands for its extensive play equipment, adventure golf and formal gardens along with its colourful events such as the Balloon Fiesta and the adrenaline filled Skyreach high ropes course; all alongside a local nature reserve and open green space in which to enjoy picnics and games with family and friends.

The UK’s Best Park is organised by green space charity Fields in Trust who, for over 90 years, have provided legal protection to parks and green spaces ensuring they will always be available for future generations to enjoy. A record 364 nominations were received for UK’s Best Park 2019, of which 24 were in the West Midlands. Those nominations were supported by park users, communities, Friends of groups, and landowners and an unprecedented total of 36,832 votes were cast for parks and green spaces across the UK.

Cllr Carolyn Healy, Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy said “Well done to Telford Town Park and the team of staff and volunteers that work so hard throughout the year to make it a much loved space.”

“We really are proud to have such a wonderful park on our doorstep in Telford, with plenty of activities to get involved in and nature trails to explore.”
