Landlord Accreditation launches associate membership level

Telford & Wrekin Council’s Landlord Accreditation Scheme has launched a new associate membership level.

Landlord Accreditation launches associate membership level

This is for landlords who use an accredited letting agent to manage their property.

The accreditation scheme provides landlords and lettings agents with training and advice and access to other benefits.  For tenants, it provides reassurance that their landlord is committed to the scheme’s code of conduct.  The aim of the scheme is to improve standards in the private rented housing sector, and is part of the wider Better Homes for All programme which also includes targeted legal action to tackle rogue landlords.

Some of the benefits of the accreditation associate membership scheme include:
• Regular updates on changes in the law and housing issues
• A dedicated officer at hand to offer help, advice and support
• On-line training for continual development
• Three free waste passes per year to use at Council run household recycling centres.

Cllr David Wright, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure said: “We are pleased to launch the new associate membership level which will continue to improve the relationship between the council and private landlords and help raise the standards of rented accommodation for local residents.

“Over 100 accredited landlords and letting agents have joined the Landlord Accreditation Scheme since it launched in July 2018 and the new associate category of membership will encourage even more landlords to access the support available through the scheme, providing assurance for tenants that properties will be managed in accordance with the agreed code of conduct.
