Outgoing mayor thanks community for support

Outgoing mayor, Councillor Raj Mehta, has thanked all those who have supported him during his year as borough Mayor.

Over the past 12 months, Cllr Mehta has raised over £10,500 for his Building Bridges fund, while he attended 426 mayoral engagements, meeting tens of thousands of residents across process.

Councillor Raj Mehta completed his year as Mayor at last night’s AGM, with the election of the new Mayor, Councillor Stephen Reynolds.

Councillor Mehta said: “It’s been an absolute privilege to serve as the Borough of Telford & Wrekin’s Mayor.

“I was delighted to represent the borough in such an exciting year encompassing the Telford 50th birthday celebrations.

“I am passionate about working with the local community, especially building relationships with our younger generations who are the future of Telford, and also our older generations who helped to make Telford the fantastic town it is today.

“I plan to continue with the work I began – particularly my Building Bridges project – in my new Cabinet role.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported my work over the past year and has donated to my fundraising efforts.”
