Massive month of comedy and music during March

Comedy giants Jimmy Carr and Jim Davidson are the lead names performing during a major month of comedy and music in Telford during March.

The borough’s proven ability to deliver packed audiences – evidenced by the Big Top celebrations during Telford’s 50th birthday last year – again paid off when the Jimmy Carr show sold out in a matter of hours last night.

His Work In Progress tour made Saturday 2 March at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place a late addition and tickets were snapped up extremely quickly.

Carr will be the latest in a string of huge comedy names to visit the theatre including Nish Kumar, Stewart Francis, Garry Delaney and Reginald D Hunter over the coming spring.

Jim Davidson – the marmite man of the comedy world  – brings his latest tour entitled The People Fight Back to the theatre on Friday 15 March and there is only a handful of seats still available for the show.

The month begins with Someone Like You: The Adele Songbook on 1 March. Katie Markham leads a talented six piece band through all Adele’s big hits as well as paying homage to some of the star’s musical heroes.

A week later on March 8 sees a completely contrasting show in the form of LiveWire – the world’s greatest AC/DC tribute act complete with cannons, a wall of amps and two hours of high voltage rock’n’roll.

International super trio Blake take the stage at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on Thursday 14 March performing the finest songs from all seven of their chart topping albums.

Other shows during the course of the month include:

•Dusty & The Shades of the 60s on Wednesday 6 March

•Absolute Bowie, a David Bowie’s tribute act on Saturday 16 March

•A Celebration of Barry Manilow on Thursday 21 March

•Elvis tribute Gordon Hendricks on Friday 22 March

•Arrival – The Hits of Abba on Saturday 23 March

• Irish country star Jimmy Buckley on Tuesday 26 March
