New Senior Gym Club sessions to launch at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre

The Senior Gym Club with the support of Telford and Wrekin Leisure services are launching new fitness and rhythm sessions.

New Senior Gym Club sessions to launch at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre

The sessions are set to start on Tuesday 5 February at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre, continuing every Tuesday and Friday on a weekly basis from 2-3pm. 

Senior Gym Club sessions are low impact fitness sessions for people over the age of 55, delivered by level 3 qualified instructors for older adults. 

The Senior Gym Club has been established for nine years and currently run three social gym sessions, the group have been looking to expand their offering for over 55’s and have since been awarded Sport England funding to deliver these additional sessions.

The first session is free to try and £3.00 per session following the trial. An annual fee is also available at £12 for the year. For any more information please contact Kevin on 01952 825239 or Olga 01952 595690. 

Penny Owen, spokesperson for the Senior Gym Club said: “The club have been providing over 55’s gym sessions for the last 9 years, receiving funding from Sport England has meant we can now extend this provision for older adults.” 

“The new fitness and rhythm sessions will be a fantastic opportunity for over 55’s to meet new people, socialise and exercise at the same time.”

Councillor John Minor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Green Spaces and Parks, said: “The team are always looking for new ways to expand the fitness offering, it’s great we can try and integrate more of the community by offering more of Senior Gym Club sessions.”
