Council Christmas card designs unveiled

The winning designs for Telford & Wrekin Council’s corporate Christmas card have been unveiled.

Pupils from local primary schools were invited to create their best Christmas card designs. Pupils were asked to include an element of Telford 50 in their design, as well as a festive theme.

There were two age categories for the competition, 7–9 years old and 10–11 years old, with a winner chosen from each.

The winning designs were drawn by Marlena Soldyga, age 7 (on the right) and Agata Sijka, age 11 (on the left), both from St Patrick’s RC Primary School.

Council leader, Councillor Shaun Davies said: “We wanted to inspire our young people to come up with their most creative design reflecting their own interpretations of Christmas as well as their love for Telford.

“We wanted them to incorporate what they have enjoyed most about the celebratory year so far in their designs too.”

Councillor Raj Mehta, Mayor for the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, said: “We were really pleased with all of the entries we had and choosing the winners was really tough.”

The winners have had their picture printed on the Telford & Wrekin Council corporate Christmas card for 2018, as well as being used in our e-card. They have also received a framed copy of their design, a Telford 50 goody bag and a special gift voucher for use in the Town Park facilities including our brand new Disc Golf.
