Good luck England!

Telford & Wrekin Council has this afternoon used the town centre’s electronic signs to send a good luck message to England’s football team ahead of tonight’s World Cup Semi Final clash with Croatia.

England have reached only their third World Cup semi final after a swashbuckling run – which included their first ever World Cup penalty shootout win.

Tonight’s game against Croatia kicks off at 7pm in the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow and the prize awaiting the winner is a place in Sunday’s final against France in the same stadium.

The electronic signs around Telford Town Centre this afternoon carried the message “It’s Coming Home – Good Luck Lads” with the flag of St George as a backdrop.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Shaun Davies said: “The whole nation has been gripped by the determined performances of Gareth Southgate’s young team and I really hope they get through tonight.

“I am delighted that we are able to send the team such a visible good luck message. The team have said they want to go on creating their own history and I am confident that they will do that.

“All the very best of luck to manager Gareth Southgate, captain Harry Kane and all the rest of the squad from everyone here in Telford. You’ve made us proud no matter what the outcome of tonight.”
