Helping to tackle homelessness

Are you homeless or threatened with the risk of becoming homeless?  Or do you know someone who is at risk?  The Housing Solutions team provide help and advice if you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  You can get advice online through our housing options tool or by calling 01952 381925 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

It’s better to seek help as early as possible if you are or anybody you know is at risk.  We can arrange a meeting with a housing solutions officer where they will discuss your current circumstances and provide advice and guidance on how to prevent you becoming homeless.  They will also produce with you a personalised housing plan, outlining your options and actions you can take to help change your situation.

The Housing Solutions team provide advice to more than 3000 people throughout the year and provide in-depth support to around 150 clients through homeless applications where support is provided to help relieve homelessness.

Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s deputy leader, said: “Wherever possible we will provide help, advice and support to prevent and reduce the risk of becoming homeless.  The most important thing is to get advice as soon as possible if you are at risk. There may be things that can be done to prevent you losing your home and becoming homeless.”

We also offer:
• a 24 hour homeless helpline on 01952 381925 or our housing options tool
• accessible offices if you have a physical or sensory disability
• an interview with a Homeless Advisor of the same gender in cases of domestic violence. This means that if you are female and would like to be seen by a female officer, we can arrange this so that you feel completely at ease;
• If you call our homeless helpline, we will arrange an appointment to see you as soon as we can

The Maninplace charity, which is an appointment based service offers advice and support on people presenting as homeless or rough sleeping.  They can be contacted on 01952 248248 (Mon – Fri 9am to 4.30pm) or by clicking here.
