Telford & Wrekin Leisure Services announce the opening date of the new and improved fitness suite at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre.

The new and improved facilities will be available to for the public to access on Friday 1 September and will include an extended cardiovascular offer and much improved strength offer.


A small part of the gym has been closed since early May and fitness classes moved to a satellite programme as part of the ongoing scheme to improve facilities at the centre.
The newly renovated centre includes an improved and extended fitness suite and purpose-built fitness studio. The development will also see the opening of a brand new cycling studio which will have state of the art equipment including a new virtual screen enhancing the customer experience with a new virtual class offering.


Following the opening of the fitness suite, work will begin on the refurbishment of the health suite including sauna, steam room and spa area during the autumn and are expected to be completed during December 2017.


The public are invited to the open weekend taking place on 2 and 3 September to look around, have an induction, learn how to use the equipment and use the facilities for free.

There is a special weekend planned to showcase the new cycling studio which will take place on the weekend of 9 and 10 September.

“I am delighted to be able to announce the opening of the new look facilities at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre, These new facilities will be available from 1 September. The new look fitness suite and cycling studio is really starting to take shape now and is looking really good. I’m sure our members will appreciate the newly extended gym.
I am very much looking forward to the opening of the new cycling studio and virtual exercise class offering and the increased variety of activities that are available.
