Carers Week June 12-18 2017
One in three of us will be carers in our lifetime providing unpaid support for a parent, relative, neighbour or friend.
To mark the national campaign of Carers Week, Telford Carers Centre is holding various events across the borough.
The national theme is building communities which support carers to look after their loved one well, while recognising that they are individuals with their own needs.
Telford Carers Centre provides information, advice and guidance to unpaid family carers who are caring for someone living with health and care needs in the borough.
The week includes various local events for families to enjoy, ranging from a trip to Liverpool, basketball, carers walk, a quiz night with a fish and chip supper to the final event, a Carers Carnival on Saturday 17 June.
Carers Carnival Day is for carers of all ages. Being held at Telford Hornets Rugby Club, 11am-3pm. There will be live music and activities throughout the day. It will be a celebration of carers of all ages, across Telford, and we invite many people to come along and join us for a picnic.

Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children and Adults Early Help and Support, said: “Carers Week is a fantastic way to celebrate vital contribution carers make to our families, communities and wider society.
“We know that caring for a loved one can be a rewarding experience but without the right support at the right time, caring can also have a huge impact on a carer’s emotional and physical health, work and finances.”
