Telford & Wrekin Council is introducing an emergency nighttime closure of Rampart Way on Wednesday and Thursday between 10pm and 6am.
Work is continuing to turn Rampart Way and part of Hall Park Way into a dual carriageway to improve the access from the A442 to the M54.
The nighttime closures from Forge Island to Hollinswood are needed this week to enable contractors to carry out essential relining work to the road markings.
It is hoped that this can be completed in one night. However Telford & Wrekin Council’s highways team has successfully applied for two nights of closures because the work is weather dependent.
The work is being done as part of the Telford Connectivity Package, which will cost £12.3m. £10.3m of this funding has been secured through the Department for Transport’s Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund.
The remaining funding will be provided through Section 106 contributions secured from new housing and employment developments.
As well as turning Rampart Way and part of Hall Park Way into dual carriageways, the package will also fund the replacement of the footbridge from Telford Town Centre to Telford Central railway station. The bridge element of the project will cost around £7m.
