Enforced delay in adoption of the Local Plan

Telford & Wrekin Council regrets to announce a delay in the process of adopting the Local Plan; a document which will set out how and where development will take place in the borough and guide future planning decisions up to 2031.

Enforced delay in adoption of the Local Plan
The Local Plan was originally intended to be adopted by the end of this year.

The next stage is for a public examination, but that has had to be put back due to the illness of the designated Government planning inspector, clearly an issue that is outside the Council’s control.

It is hoped that the examination can begin before Christmas with a provisional revised date of 12th December, and the plan adopted in 2017.

As part of the process, the deadline for receipt of additional statements and confirmation of participation was Friday 28th October 2016.  This remains unchanged and the inspector will not accept any additional statements.

The Programme Officer appointed to work on behalf of the Inspector will maintain contact with all participants as more information is made available by the Planning Inspectorate regarding revised dates for the examination sessions.
