Ready to relive the ‘good old days’?
Skate Back in Time is tomorrow evening, so it’s time to dust off those ice skates lurking in the back of the cupboard and get down to Telford Ice Rink to reminisce about the ‘good old days’ skating over the ice and maybe with a drink over ice for those over 18!
Skate Back in Time takes place this Saturday evening (24 SEP) from 8-10pm and will celebrate the last 30+ years of the evening skate with disco.
The bar will be open, and the speed skating session is being brought back for the night for all those brave enough to test out their skills which may have been lying dormant for the last few years (or decades!).
That feeling of nostalgia will be complete as DJ ‘Porky Pig’, or Paul ‘Shuttsie’ Shuttleworth as younger skaters will know him as, takes to the decks to bring the skating crowd all the best songs from the 80s right up to today.
While the skating itself will go on until 10pm the bar will remain open until late, along with a disco, so bring the dancing shoes as well as those ‘vintage’ skates.
Councillor Richard Overton, cabinet member for Housing Leisure and Health, said: “Telford Ice rink has been a staple night out for two or more generations of our young people now and it remains a popular venue to meet with friends and have fun.
“This night is an opportunity to bring back all those memories and whether reliving it with the same friends or introducing your partner, kids or new friends to your past it is set to be a fantastic night.
“And if your energy isn’t quite what it used to be, hop off the ice and relax in the bar while watching the youngsters of today follow in your footsteps!”
A limited number of early bird tickets have been released at the special price of just £7.55. Tickets can be purchased online at www.telfordandwrekinleisure.co.uk/bookonline by selecting guest log in and ‘Skate Back in Time’ under Telford Ice Rink.
So grab those skates, bring together friends and family and come along and relive those speedy, or maybe Bambi on ice, days, then enjoy some drinks, dancing and reminiscing til late. It’s a night not to be missed.
