Work to start on Southwater access road
Work to improve the access road to Southwater from Telford Ice Rink starts tomorrow and is expected to last up to two weeks.
The paving will be taken up as far as Southwater Square and the area top dressed with tarmac.
The road will then be repaved after the planned developments at the bottom end of Southwater are completed.
The current paving on the existing access road has got to a point where it has become a health and safety issue and now needs addressing.
“Given the proposed future phases of development and potential movement of construction traffic, it has been agreed that the current paving should be taken up,” said Service Delivery Manager for Estates & Investments, James Dunn.
“It has been agreed that we will take up the current paving, prepare the sub layer/base and then top dress with tarmac. Once the further phases of development have been completed the tarmac will be plained off and new paving re-laid.”
During the work, access to Southwater during the permitted hours of delivery will be via the cinema entrance. There will be stewards posted at the access point to marshall vehicles on and off site.
