One of the highlights of late summer is set to be Telford Kite Festival on Sunday 4 September – and the coming Bank Holiday weekend provides the ideal chance to get in the spirit of the event.
Telford Shopping Centre is to hold free kite making workshops from 10am-4pm on Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th and Monday 29th in New Row, near the House of Fraser department store.
People planning to attend the Kite Festival are urged to come along to the Shopping Centre workshops and learn how to make kites – which will be part of a dazzling array of graceful colour that will fill the skies on festival day.
Telford Kite Festival takes place in the Telford Town Park QEII Fields In Trust Arena from 11am to 4pm and is being put on in conjunction with West Midlands Kite Fliers Association and sponsored by Telford Shopping Centre.
Residents and visitors are being encouraged to bring a picnic and the event is free to attend.
Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Culture, Sports, Parks and Green Spaces, said: “The free workshops over the Bank Holiday weekend in the Shopping Centre are a great way to get in the spirit of the kite festival and make yourself kites to fly at the festival. I hope lots of people will come along and join in the fun.”
