Let ‘T-Picnic’ transport your taste buds to another world
Come to Telford and fill your picnic basket with some of the world’s tastiest food.
‘T-Picnic’, in the QEII Fields In Trust Telford Town Park Arena on Saturday 3 September will feature food from the Phillippines, Ghana, India and Turkey.
Dishes such as Pancit-Choi Main, African Boflot and Wineleaves are being brought to the event by Taste One World. Director and Founder Maria Raisbeck said: “Visit us and experience authentic homemade food prepared and cooked before your very eyes; food that will definitely tickle your taste buds.”
Other foods available include Polish Pierogi, Mexican street food, Cajun, Caribbean, a hog roast and delicious homemade cake stalls.
Entertainment throughout the day between 11am and 9pm will include local artists and international acts such as ‘Spark!’ and the ‘London Vegetable Orchestra’. There will also be street theatre, circus workshops, Chinese language classes for children, arts and crafts as well as Bhangra, folk dance and Lindy Hop workshops and it will climax with a spectacular light and pyrotechnic show finale.
Maria added: “The combination of exotic aromas and spices, music and entertainment will transport you to another time, another place, another world.”
‘T-Picnic’ is one of three events in Telford this summer branded as ‘Festival Telford’ and supported by a grant from Arts Council England. It is also sponsored by Telford Shopping Centre.
Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Culture, Sports, Parks & Green Spaces said: “This is gearing up to be a great family day out. Being held in the UK’s best park and costing only £1, there will be something for everyone of every age.”
