Southwater works start Monday
Two pieces of work are starting on Monday (AUG 1) at Telford’s Southwater development.
These include the laying of an electricity mains cable from Southwater Way to the new development at the front of Meeting Point House and essential works and therefore temporary closure of the multi storey car park.
Western Power Distribution (WPD) will be laying down a new underground mains cable which will run between Southwater One and Cineworld through to the new building at the front of Meeting Point House.
This work is expected to take between three and four weeks and will see small sections of paving being dug up in order to minimise disruption during the school holidays.
In other works, the Southwater multi storey car park will be closed for a week from Monday August 1. The first two floors will re-open on Monday August 8 and the rest of the car park will open in the next couple of weeks after that.
Jonathan Rowe, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Director of Customer, Neighbourhood and Wellbeing Services, said: “We’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while both these pieces of work take place.
“The WPD work is the laying of the electricity supply to the development at the front of Meeting Point House. This development was agreed after the original ground works for Southwater were installed.
“The multi storey car park requires some essential works following last month’s car fire before it can re-open and this will mean the car park has to close for a week to allow this to take place.”
