On Saturday 16 July, Telford Town Park will come alive with prehistoric dinosaurs as they take over the QEII Arena and amaze children and adults alike with their sheer size and scale.
With support funding from Arts Council England and sponsored by Telford Shopping Centre this free event takes place between 11am–4pm.
At Carnival of Giants, A GIANT parade at 2pm will be just one of the highlights of the day featuring 500 people, dino paraphernalia, Festive Road with their unique dinosaurs, Closer Act with Saurus and not forgetting Skiband who will be bringing the parade to life with their brilliant musical style.
The fun doesn’t stop there. As well as seeing the amazing parade, there’s so much more to experience.
Barnum will be making his first UK appearance at Carnival of Giants. The baby T-Rex was named by competition winner Liam Shaw and will be roaming the park looking for people to meat (sorry meet!).
The Travelling National History Museum will be bringing their own prehistoric creatures and offering a unique opportunity to take part in their T-Rex sand dig for little hands to get a proper feel for how fossilised dinosaurs of EPIC proportions are found.
The community stage spot will be host to local dance, music and performances that will keep the carnival vibe going all day.
The GIANT deckchair will also be back this year, and there will be a dressing up box, a craft marquee, sports, activities, food stalls, a large fun fair, carnival games and more.
From 23 July to 6 August, some of the dinosaurs appearing at the Carnival, can also be seen in Telford Shopping Centre as part of their Dinosaur Experience. The main feature is a life size T Rex, that comes to life.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Culture, Sport, Parks and Green Spaces, said: “The interest in Carnival of Giants has been phenomenal and it’s easy to see why. There is so much to do for all the family and everyone is sure to be amazed by the spectacular dinosaurs heading to our wonderful park next week.
“Fingers crossed for some good weather to really top off what is bound to be a really great day. I hope everyone has lots of fun”
Carnival of Giants is set to be a busy day. Please remember that there is currently only limited parking in the Southwater car park. There is plenty of parking available in Telford Shopping Centre car parks and Telford International Centre will also be opening up their car park (chargeable) for the day.
