Tenant Sarah Taylor is chuffed to bits with her Nuplace home at Woodland Walk in Madeley – and she has a combination of her sister and the council’s News For You email system to thank for it.
Sarah was renting elsewhere in the borough when her sister received an email from News For You promoting the availability of new properties for rental at Woodland Walk.
Attracted by the idea of living in a new house owned by a responsible landlord, Sarah got busy applying – and she is delighted with the results.
“I applied online and downloaded the application form – this was back in October,” she explained.
“I filled it all out, got the references in place and got accepted. It has just all been so simple.”
Sarah chose The Ringwood model of house for herself and her two young daughters, which gives her a three bedroom house, with garden and parking.
“Yes, I chose it mainly for bedroom size, it has three good sized bedrooms. I really liked the plot itself with the wooded area at the back so I’m very happy,” she added.
Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “Stories like Sarah’s are really heart warming and they demonstrate that Nuplace is playing a valuable role in the community, as well as generating commercial revenue for the council.
“I hope Sarah and her family enjoy living at Woodland Walk and I look forward to hearing similar stories created by Nuplace in the future.”
Telford & Wrekin Council has done a short video interview with Sarah, which can be viewed here: http://tinyurl.com/jxosrt4
The creation of Nuplace is a bold step by the Council to support social and economic regeneration, help bridge a gap in the rental market and create revenue to protect frontline council services.
