Young dancers showcase their talent
Young dancers from across the Midlands will be taking part in an exhilarating celebration of dance at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place next month in the 2016 Dance Showcase.
Now in its ninth successful year, Telford Dance Showcase is organised by Telford Culture Zone, which co-ordinates Telford & Wrekin Council’s creative and cultural offers for young people and children.
Telford Dance Showcase will take place over two nights, Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 February 2016, with performances each evening at 7pm.
This year’s Dance Showcase is set to be the biggest and best ever with dozens of groups performing over two nights. Audiences will be treated to an array of dynamic dance styles from across the globe, from contemporary to street, tap to jazz and flamenco to traditional South Asian dances.
Many of the pieces have been created exclusively for the show.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “Telford Culture Zone supports a wide range of family and community events, actively engaging children and their parents or carers to participate in cultural activities across the borough.
Dance is a great way for young people to keep active, build their confidence and have fun. This year’s Telford Dance Showcase is set to be an incredible celebration of young people’s talent and creativity and two fantastic evenings of entertainment for anyone who is interested in dance.”
The Dance Showcase will be held at 7pm on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 February at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place.
Tickets for the shows are on sale now at a cost of £8 each (£6 concessions) and can be booked online at www.theplacetelford.com by calling the box office on 01952 382382, or in person at the theatre or Southwater One in Telford Town Centre.
