America’s Got Talent winner returns to Telford

His name is Paul Zerdin, and he is arguably the UK’s number one ventriloquist and comedian, and he is returning this year for a major tour entitled ‘Spongefinger’.

The tour kicks off in April in Leeds and while it’s a bit of a wait until he reaches Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on Wednesday 19 October, tickets are already on sale and likely to be very popular, given Paul’s ever increasing fan base.

Zerdin recently appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Big Christmas Show in BBC One on Christmas Day, and has made countless television appearance since his screen debut back in 1996 in which he was voted the outright winner, by more than 100,000 votes, of LWT’s The Big Big Talent Show hosted by Jonathan Ross.

Since then he has appeared in TV shows including Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up, ITV1’s Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford, Tonight at the London Palladium, The Prince’s Trust Gala and three appearances at the Royal Variety Performance.
Winning series ten of America’s Got Talent in September last year, Paul and his puppet sidekicks soon went viral on YouTube, receiving millions of views from around the world.  Since his win, Zerdin has completed a headline show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and is also in talks with US TV networks, so make sure you catch him locally while he’s on tour his home-turf first!

When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming tour, Zerdin stated: “I was born in London and still live and work here, so despite the great international reception I’ve received since winning America’s Got Talent, it’s fantastic to be able to tour and entertain audiences across my homeland.

“I’m looking forward to introducing Sam, Albert and Baby to audiences across the UK, although Sam is definitely getting too big for his boots, having demanded his own dressing room!”

The performance takes place on Wednesday 19 October at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place costing £18.50 each, and can be booked online at by calling the box office on 01952 382382, or in person at the theatre or Southwater One in Telford Town Centre.
