New Art Exhibition at The Gallery Bar @The Place

Following the success of last year's exhibition, The Gallery is welcoming back students from the Arts Department from New College in Wellington.

New Art Exhibition at The Gallery Bar @The Place

For the majority of the 30 students who are exhibiting this year, this is the first time their work will have gone on public display.

The artwork covers an eclectic mix of styles using a wide range of media including painting, collage, printmaking and photography.

The exhibition has been organised by Luby Cunningham, artist in residence at New College and the exhibition committee which is made up of students on the AS and A2 Fine Art Course and also students studying The National Diploma in Design Crafts.

Second Year AS Fine Art Student Lee Cutter said: "It is really exhilarating and a great confidence builder to be able to display our pieces of art for public viewing.

"This project has been a great motivation boost for all of us involved and helps in the transition of being a student and an artist, which is what many of us want to take forward as a career."

Psyche Hudson, Arts and Culture Manager at Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "There are some very talented people living in the borough and this Council is pleased to support residents and motivate them to do their best.

"This exhibition at The Place is free to attend and they are always on the look out for new artists to exhibit."

All of the pieces on display are available for sale and offer a unique opportunity to buy artwork from up and coming young artists.

All of the exhibited pieces will be going forward for external examination after the exhibition and will be available for collection from The Place at the end of August.

For all sales enquires please speak with a member of the Box Office Team in Reception.

The exhibition will run from March 30 to May 1 and the Gallery is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, 12 noon to 6pm on Wednesdays and for patrons also prior to and during intervals at theatre performances.

Please note that the Gallery is a shared space and sometimes during the day other activities take place which may prohibit entry to exhibitions. Please check with the Theatre Box Office on 01952 382350 for details.
