Brendan's Ballads to Shine in Telford
Oakengates Theatre @ The Place is playing host to much loved Irish folk singer and accordionist Brendan Shine and his unforgettable ‘Shine Party’ on Tuesday 11 November.
Best known for his songs about everyday Irish life, including Spuds, Brendan Shine spent several weeks at number one in the Irish charts with O’Brien Has No Place to Go and Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed Down in the 1970s. Hits from his extensive back catalogue also include Where Three Counties Meet, Catch Me If You Can, Grandad, Carrots and Rose Of Castlerea.
Shine has released more than 40 albums and has had more than 35 hit singles. Well known in his home country as a television presenter he has appeared on The Late Late Show and hosted series such as Nice and Easy and Shine On.
The easy listening entertainer started his band with school pal Johnny Dawson as a drummer and singer over 30 years ago. Since then, large audiences of folk fans have enjoyed his beautiful ballads in major music venues around the world including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Symphony Hall Birmingham, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and Cork Opera House.
