Residents help with Brookside planting scheme
Residents of Brookside have came out in force to plant bulbs in their community open space, known locally as the Dip, as part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride In Your Community programme.
Families were invited to the Dip where over 20,000 spring bulbs have been planted.
This bulb planting event was in response to feedback from the Dip community meeting, at which residents said they wanted to make the Dip a brighter and more welcoming place to visit for Brookside.
The bulb planting is one of a number of Pride in Your Community projects set to be completed over the next few months to complement the ancient hawthorn and oak trees already established.
The Local Parish Environmental Team and the Environmental Target Intervention Team were also on hand to help the residents with the planting.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “This scheme is exactly the kind of thing we will achieve through Pride In Your Community and I am delighted we’ve been able to involve local residents in the planting.
“The aim is to make The Dip a brighter focal point for Brookside and I look forward to seeing the bulbs in flower in the spring.
