Part of Box Road temporarily two way
To ease congestion during the Christmas & New Year break, we will be introducing temporary measures to help manage the traffic, including making two sections of the Box Road two way.
Woodhouse Central and Lawn Central will be made temporarily two way from Monday 24November for a seven week period. They will both revert to one way on 12 January to allow final works including tree planting to be completed before the final two way proposals are put in place in the Spring of next year.
By turning these two sections two way during the festive period, it will provide a route that bypasses Grange Central and Coach Central where work will continue and will help reduce delays caused by the works in these areas.
Temporary traffic lights will also be removed from the St Quentin Gate junction at the International Centre to allow free flow of traffic through the junction.
Telford & Wrekin Council will be providing additional traffic management personnel during busy periods to help direct traffic.
Work on Hollinsgate Roundabout will be suspended on 24 November, meaning the approach from Hollinswood Interchange (A442) and around the roundabout will be open to two lanes to cater for the increase in traffic. Work on the roundabout will resume on 5 January.
All town centre car parks will remain open during the work and the town centre including both Southwater and the Shopping Centre are very much open for business.
