Christmas & New Year opening

Council services and buildings will have altered opening times over the Christmas and New Year period. Check all of these here.

Christmas & New Year opening

Telford & Wrekin Council’s office based services will be closed from 5pm on Tuesday 23 December until 8.30am on Monday 29 December.

They will also be closed from 5pm on New Year’s Eve until 8.30am on Monday 5 January.

The Council’s leisure centres, the Telford Tennis Centre and the Ice Rink will be open between Christmas and New Year, from Saturday 27 December until Wednesday 31 December. They will close from 4pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will close again for New Year’s Day.

The Town Park Visitor Centre will also be closed all day on Christmas Eve. Stirchley Recreation Centre will be closed from Christmas Day through to New Year’s Day.

Residents who want to contact the Council out of hours should do so either via the Everyday Telford app orhttp://www.telford.gov.uk/contact="/contact">www.telford.gov.uk/contact. Issues can continue to be reported at any time using the app or from the web page.

All the borough’s libraries will be closed from 24–28 December and 1–4 January, apart from Southwater Library, which will be open on Saturday 27 December and Saturday 3 January. Wellington and Southwater Library will close at 5pm on Tuesday 23 December. Newport and Southwater Library will close at 5.00pm and Wellington Library will close at 4pm on Wednesday 31 December.

The Register Office is open until 4pm on Christmas Eve and then closed from 25–28 December. It will be open as normal from 9am–5pm on 29 and 30 December and will then close at 4pm on New Year’s Eve.

It will remain closed on New Year’s Day and 2 January but is open for ceremonies only on Saturday 3 January.
