One of Telford & Wrekin Council’s 54 councillors has resigned from his seat for personal reasons.
Labour Councillor Roy Picken has stood down from his position as elected member of the Lawley and Overdale ward.
Councillor Picken had been a councillor for 17 years. His council career has included being chairman of the General Purposes Board and Licensing Committee (2002-2005) and vice chairman of the Licensing Committee (2011-2013).
He was also the long standing council representative on both the Combined Fire Authority and Wrekin Housing Trust.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “I would like to thank Roy for his contribution, he has been a valued member of Telford & Wrekin Council down the years and I wish him well for the future.”
There will not be a by-election as the law states that any seats that become vacant within six months of a borough election do not need to be contested.
There is a full borough election on 7 May.
