Dawley is Great! Come and see why and share your views

Dawley residents are being invited to come along to a special event on 22 and 23 January to share their views about plans to develop the land next to the Phoenix Academy.

They will also be asked about the council’s plans for the future and activities for young people.

The event, which is being organised by Telford & Wrekin Council and Great Dawley Town Council, will give local people an opportunity to find out about how they can help improve their local area as snow wardens or street champions.

Many people’s New Year’s resolutions include getting active in 2015, and the perfect way to do this is to drop in and meet the team from Phoenix Sports and Leisure Centre who will be offering free health checks, discounted membership and the chance to win three months membership in a prize draw.

Residents will also be able to try their hand at short mat bowling, find out more about Dawley Art Group and share fond recollections of yesteryear with Telford Memories over a free cup of tea or coffee.

Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for Housing, Development & Borough Towns, said: “Significant improvements have already been made in Dawley and we are delighted to be working with the Town Council to continue this work.

“I would urge residents to come along on 22 or 23 January to find out more about the proposals for their local area and to share their views on council priorities and spending plans for the borough as part of the budget roadshow.”

Councillor Shaun Davies, Chair of Great Dawley Town Council, said: “It’s really important that local people are involved in shaping the plans for Dawley’s ongoing regeneration.

“The Dawley is Great! event is a fantastic chance for residents to find out more about the proposals and share their comments.”

Everyone is welcome to drop in and find out more about what’s on locally and how they can get involved, 4.30–6.30pm on Thursday 22 January and 9am–4pm on Friday 23 January at Dawley House, 22 Burton Street, TF4 2ES.
