A summer school with a difference

Oakengates Theatre @ The Place is calling on aspiring actors and actresses in and around Telford who have a passion for theatre to join them at their week-long circus summer school.

A summer school with a difference

Young people aged eight to 18 are invited to join a team of professional circus trainers from the national Circus Theatre company, RougePlay Theatre between Monday 20 July and Friday 24 July, for a fun-filled start to their summer holidays.

During the week, children will learn extraordinary pieces of circus theatre to share with an audience, as well as getting the chance to explore and develop their own creative ideas on stage.

They will be introduced to a range of aerial and ground based circus skills including aerial silks, static trapeze, acrobatics and physical theatre – all of which are aimed to improve the individual’s confidence, flexibility, strength and creativity.

The course costs £110 (and £90 for a second child) and children are not required to have existing circus skills or experience.

Debbie King, Oakengates Theatre Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this year’s Circus Skills summer school at The Place for children and young people who share our passion and enthusiasm for theatrical performances.

“Not only will this course give the children an exciting first week of their summer holidays, it will allow them the opportunity to gain new skills and improved confidence when performing on stage – especially when learning some of the more unusual circus skills and acrobatics.”
