Library drop in session for local history lovers
Telford & Wrekin Council is holding its next Telford Our New Town drop in session at Southwater Library between 11am and 2pm on Saturday 25 April.
Residents and history lovers are being invited to drop in and see a new selection of pictures that have been added to the digital table and share memories of Telford from the 1960s onwards.
Staff will be on hand to show residents how to use the digital table, which is very simple and creates a fantastic way to discover the history of some of the area.
A recent Heritage Lottery Fund project has enabled more photographs from the Telford Development Corporation collection to be digitised.
The event on Saturday April 25 is an opportunity to see some of the new photos including arts and cultural activities, sports and leisure including some photos donated by AFC Telford United and leisure, history and trade.
There is also a selection of videos including the official opening of the park’s steam train railway, by the creator of Thomas The Tank Engine and a range of aerial views of the borough.
The project also has a new website that is being launched from 20 April which can be found at http://www.telfordournewtown.co.uk/
