Residents invited to Gower Street St Georges Memories event
Telford & Wrekin Council will host a consultation event over its refurbishment of the former Gower Street Youth building in St Georges on Saturday 25 April.
Local residents and businesses are invited to come along and share their memories of the former Youth building, to bring any photos or memorabilia of the Gower Street building as well as their ideas and suggestions for its future use at the event.
The Council wants local people to get involved in a consultation process over the building’s usage in the future.
Telford & Wrekin Council, St Georges Partnership and the Gower Heritage and Enterprise group are working together to host the Memories event on Saturday 25 April.
The event will take place from 10.30am–1.30pm at St Georges Parish Rooms.
There will also be a local artist on site to gather ideas from residents for a wall art design that will be painted onto the hoardings that will be placed at the front of the building during its refurbishment.
TCAT Fine Art students have been busy designing logos that will be on display at the event for visitors to view and decide which one is their favourite.
Kate Callis, Assistant Director for Development, Business and Employment, said: “We’re pleased that funding for the refurbishment of this much-loved building has been secured and we’re now keen to get ideas on its future use from the local community.
“We look forward to people coming and sharing their memories and their ideas for the future of the building.
“With the community’s support we will be able to bring the building back into use.”
