Council poised to celebrate National Bike Week
Telford & Wrekin Council is poised to celebrate National Bike Week 2015 with a host of events designed to cater for every level of fitness and ability.
All ages can take part in the wide range of rides, coaching and cycle maintenance courses that are being staged to encourage people to get in the saddle and use pedal power.
National Bike Week 2015 starts on Saturday (June 2015) and runs until Sunday 21 June. It is an annual opportunity to promote the sport and show how it can easily be part of everyday life by encouraging "everyday cycling for everyone".
This year’s event has a special focus and will encourage people to use their bikes to cycle to work.
In Telford, Halfords has kindly donated vouchers for the council’s Bike Week quiz events at Newport and Wellington carnivals.

Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: "Cycling is a fantastic way to get fit and enjoy fresh air and the countryside and I am sure lots of residents of all ages and ability will take part in the various events in Telford and Wrekin."
Telford & Wrekin Council and Staffordshire County Council unveiled National Cycle Network Route 55 earlier this year as part of ongoing investment in the infrastructure for cyclists.
The new, mostly off road route cost £300,000 is 12 miles in length and runs from Stafford to Newport and links up with an existing route through Telford down to Ironbridge.
