Fun Day to Mark £1m Refurbishment for Brookside Central
The newly refurbished Brookside Central will be officially opened this Saturday (27 JUN) with a morning full of free family fun.
From 10am to 1pm, there’s a range of fun family activities to choose from with bouncy castles, face painting, photo booths, arts and crafts sessions, a climbing wall and more.
The event is to mark the formal re-opening of Brookside Central following its £1m refurbishment which completed earlier this spring.
Community groups Brookside Events Group and Brookside Big Local have worked closely with the Council on the refurbishment of Brookside Central and the volunteers have helped put Saturday’s programme of activities together.
The new centre has three meeting rooms and two main halls available for hire and the Brookside Central staff will work with all those interested to create the perfect event at an affordable price.
A number of local groups have already made the centre their new home, including Brookside Pre-school, Take 5 Cafe, Youth Wing and Job Box.
The refurbishment of the Brookside Central is a key part of the Council’s £6m regeneration of Brookside which also includes re-sitting local shops and building new homes.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Business, Neighbourhood and Customer Services said; "The refurbishment of Brookside Central is one of the clearest statements yet of the refurbishment of Brookside.
"It is in the heart of the Brookside community, provides a great local facility and we hope to see all local residents come along to Saturday’s opening and join in with the fun and see everything the centre has to offer.
"Since its opening earlier this year there has been great interest in the centre. Brookside Central is set to become the main hub of events for the local community in the future."
